Logarithmic wave-mechanical effects in polycrystalline metals: theory and experiment

چکیده

Schrödinger-type wave equations with logarithmic nonlinearity occur in hydrodynamic models of Korteweg-type materials capillarity and surface tension, which can undergo liquid–solid or liquid–gas phase transitions. One the predictions theory is a periodic pattern density inhomogeneities occurring form either bubbles (topological phase), cells (non-topological phase). Such are described by solitonic solutions equation, gaussons kinks, vicinity transition. During solidification process, these become centers nucleation, thus shaping polycrystalline structure metal grains. The predicts Gaussian profile material inside such cell, should manifest Gaussian-like microhardness grain. We report experimental evidence large-scale periodicity grains ferrite steel S235/A570, copper C-Cu/C14200, austenite X10CrNiTi18-10/AISI 321, aluminum–magnesium alloy 5083/5056; also profiles an averaged grain materials.

Electron–Positron Interaction in Metals. Theory and Experiment

The electron–positron interaction greatly complicates the interpretation of positron annihilation data. The two-detector Doppler measurements of Mijnarends et al. as well as our theoretical calculations point at the conclusion that the local density approximation to e+−e− interaction is a good way of treating this problem in real metals, at least the simplest ones. This shows that e+−e− interac...

Nonadiabatic wave packet dynamics: Experiment and theory in IBr

We present an experimental and a theoretical study of nonadiabatic wave packet dynamics in the intermediate coupling regime as exhibited by the IBr molecule. Using a femtosecond pump–probe molecular beam technique, we generated a wave packet which evolves on the electronically excited B P01 /Y (0 ) coupled states. The wave packet dynamics was detected by a time-delayed probe pulse which induced...

Theory of multiband superconductivity in spin-density-wave metals.

We study the emergence of multiband superconductivity with s- and d-wave symmetry on the background of a spin density wave (SDW). We show that the SDW coherence factors renormalize the momentum dependence of the superconducting (SC) gap, yielding a SC state with an unconventional s-wave symmetry. Interband Cooper pair scattering stabilizes superconductivity in both symmetries. With increasing S...

Section 3. Mechanical and microstructure effects in irradiated metals Experiment-based modelling of hardening and localized plasticity in metals irradiated under cascade damage conditions

The analysis of the available experimental observations shows that the occurrence of a sudden yield drop and the associated plastic flow localization are the major concerns regarding the performance and lifetime of materials exposed to fission or fusion neutrons. In the light of the known mechanical properties and microstructures of the as-irradiated and irradiated and deformed materials, it ha...

Nanocrystalline metals are by definition polycrystalline structures

with a mean grain size below 100 nm. Fig. 1 shows an image taken in a transmission electron microscope of a high-density nanocrystalline (nc)-Cu sample with a mean grain size of 20 nm. The mechanical behavior of a fully-dense nanocrystalline metal is, compared with its coarse-grain counterpart, characterized by a significantly enhanced yield stress and a limited tensile elongation1,2. A simple ...
